Bogdan
Hi,
Sorry for writing in english, I hope that pictures will tell more than words.
I would like to introduce you project for season 2010 from Sloweina. As you will see, construction is wood based with some gfk implementations.
Project is based on older models from my friend, who is also a constructor of the model.
Construction was made in CATIA-V5, with newest implementations of the F3A models.
I hope that this thred will be useful for some excange of experience.
Here is the link to my friends page. I will try to explain each picture (as soon I will find out how to posti it here, "jpg is not allowed") .
Fell free to post your comments.
Best regards,
Bogdan

I have made link to photos on album:
basic start with side reinforcement and undercariage..
wooden motor mount, suitablle for elektro motors and glow or gas. It is strong enought for all.
basic construction of main frame
undercariage plate and support for LiPo's or rezervoar
tail section basics
rock solid frame for suporting other parts
basic parts together, big opening for acssesing cells ...

First two will be also - I must request it from the owner. At the moment I have some other pictures from catia which will be also posted.
Yes, you have wright. One is for me and other for my friend. He is incharge for construction and wood work's and me for cnc cutting and gfk laminates.
Pictures are in flash, but I will have it soon.

Re: Buldog - F3A
Very interesting project,
You have used a 3D CAO modeler for design. Do you try to calculate the weight of the model ?
best regards
stephane

Re: Buldog - F3A
Helo, everybady!
I`m builder from Buldog.
First my apologies for my bad english. Never learned!
So, yes, in CATIA V5 is easy to calculate weight. But must be construction finished.
Some things (especialy wings an stabilisators) are changed, construction is not finished yet.
All balsa breets are weighted: balsa 2mm between 20 and 22g
balsa 3mm between 30 and 35g
balsa 1,5mm between 16 and 19g
Diference in weight between fuselage 1 and 2 is only 5g!
More about buylding from my friend Bogdan!
Regards
Marko

Very interesting! I always liked multis in wood structure. Future plans maybe?

Re: Buldog - F3A
As I have promissed, here are basic pictures from CATIA V5 and rest of drawings. As you can see, basic design was a little diferent then the model becomes now. Marko decided to modify geometry of wing and tail. Now they are a little more swep back.
complet 3D model view
side view, here is vertical stabilizer cut out from the fuselage, later was modified and cut off completly
another 3D view
here you can see proposal with MVVS 26ifs (which I was using on my ex plane )

Re: Buldog - F3A
Thank you Seb! I will use this.
Here is continuing building log.
vertical fixed tail with balsa sheets and balsa block (hollow) on the top.
()
here you can see how wide the rudder is. At the moment we dont decide to install any adjustement mechanism for horizontal stab.
and the cables are on place. It is much easyer to install it now.
here is cnc cuts styrofom with 1,5 mm balsa covering. They become really light weight. All cuttings was made with GMFC program.
upper part of the fuselage is almost ready
fuselage glued together, waiting just for canopy and motor cover
and from front
vertical stabilizer is ready
interior, extra rib was made in place between fuselage and canopy
here you can see very smart move to fix horizontal stabilizer with just one screw
and the screw
and the rudder is done
rudder with newest knowledge in design
While the wings start building by my friend Marko,
here is the link to previous model called "hypeshade 90" which is also a very good model for starting point.
A plan in PDF format is also awailablle for free there.

Re: Buldog - F3A
After a short time out, things is going on. Marko has finished my fuselage, hrozontal stabilazer and I have manage to make a gfk canopy.
We are making some weight calculations with fuselage and tail sections. Calculations shows that model will weight from 2600-2700g. Almoast complete fuselage is only 750g, and canopy come out 116g.
tail section of both fuselages
here we have mesured the canopy, and accuracy of canopy
we are werry satisfied with the look and accuracy
it realy looks good...
and here is still missing some ribs inside the canopy which will be added to reinforce the canopy
regards,
Bogdan
